The name “Pattachitra” is a combination of two Sanskrit words, “Patta” and “Chitra”. In the Sanskrit language, “Patta” literally means “cloth” and “Chitra” means “picture”. So combining these two words, the painting is called pattachitra.  This Pattachitra art is a traditional painting of Odisha.
